Robert (Bob) Alan Byrd practices in the areas of commercial and consumer bankruptcy, creditors' rights, and commercial litigation. He was admitted to practice in Mississippi and Michigan in 1978, and has maintained an active bankruptcy practice since 1980.
He graduated cum laude from Wayne State University Law School in 1977, where he was a member of the Wayne Law Review, and undertook postgraduate study at the University of Warwick School of Law in Coventry, England. He co-authored Mississippi Collection Law and Practice (P.E.S.I., 1986) and served as law clerk to the Hon. Dan M. Russell, Jr., Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, from 1977 to 1980.
Over his career he has guided numerous successful Chapter 11 reorganizations, ranging from farmers, contractors, and small family businesses to coast casinos and hotels. He has served as General Counsel for the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center for more than thirty years, and in February 2020 was appointed by the United States Trustee, Region V, to serve as a Trustee under Subchapter V of Title 11.

Russell Scott Manning represents the firm's clients in banking, bankruptcy and debt, business, and commercial real estate matters, along with construction disputes, litigation, and probate.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Mississippi and his Juris Doctor from the Mississippi College School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Mississippi and Alabama, and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Associate Attorney
Leah K. Adams joined Byrd & Wiser in November 2025. She applies transferable knowledge from more than two decades of legal work across several areas, including bankruptcy, creditor's rights, residential and commercial real estate litigation, business service litigation, and construction litigation, and has appeared before Mississippi courts.
Ms. Adams earned her Juris Doctor from the Mississippi College School of Law in 2024, following an earlier J.D. from the Ventura College of Law in California (2007) and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado Boulder. She is licensed before all Mississippi state and federal courts, the Mississippi Supreme Court, and the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
She is a member of the Harrison County Bar Association and the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference, and resides in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
